The Homework section is updated. Students should be writing as homework this week. Their short story drafts are due Friday. We'll be revising, adding, and editing our writing throughout December so that we can publish our books.

Early Release, Progress Reports, and Nanowriomo!

Students have an early release tomorrow. We will be watching the documentary "First Generation" as a school (see my homework section for more information).

Students should be writing at home this week as a part of their homework. This can be on a computer or by hand. If completed on a computer they can email it to themselves, save it to www.dropbox.com, or save on a flash drive/hard drive.

Complete Progress Reports for all classes went home today. Please sign the signature portion (hold on to the rest of the progress report) and have your student return the signature by Friday. This will let us know that you saw the report. Feel free to email individual teachers with questions.

Updated and We're Writing Like Crazy!

The homework section, what we're learning, and about assignment sections have been updated. We are writing machines this month! Ask your student about their "short" (but actually long) story. They are setting goals for the month for writing.

Progress Reports and More

Hi all,
My blog has been updated. Book orders (use link on the right) are due October 30th.

I've received questions about Skyward and grades. Teachers were given some time last Wednesday to access the system and to start entering grades. Our team hopes to have a progress report with standards based grading out to families next week. I will post and send an email when they go out. I believe parent access to Skyward will be opening up in November. Again, I will update you when I hear more.

Magazine Drive

Book Orders and Snow Goose

If your student wants to order from the book order please have them turn in orders before October 30. The link on the right takes you to the class online ordering page. When students and families order online they receive a coupon for $5 off their next book (or if the book is $5 or less the book would be free). The class also receives a coupon for $3 per order towards books for our classroom library.

The first Snow Goose group went out today. Please make sure that students are dressed in layers, have a rain coat, warm hat, gloves, long pants, and closed toe shoes. Students need a lunch (unless they ordered a school sack lunch). If your student is going on Monday with my class please make sure their lunch DOES NOT contain nut products/peanut products. Progress Reports

Progress Reports will go home tomorrow (Friday, October 5). They will be on GREEN paper. Please review it with your student. There is an area to sign on the front of the sheet. Students should return the signed copy by Tuesday (October 9).

Homework, What We're Learning, and Assignment Information have all been updated.
Open House is on Tuesday from 6:30-8pm.
Join us early at 5:30 to support the AVID pizza dinner fundraiser.
Pre-AVID Family Meet and Greet is from 5-5:30pm. Please note the time change!

Please help us support our school PTSA with our Magazine Fundraiser. Information will go home on Wednesday.

Hi all,
Homework, what we're learning, and about assignment sections are all updated for the week. We have 3:00 release on Wednesday. Students will take the MAP Reading Assessment Wednesday and MAP Math Assessment Thursday. SnowGoose forms need to be returned right away. My Core is still looking for two parent/guardian volunteers.

Welcome Lopez Sixth Graders!

Thank you for visiting my class blog. I will be updating this site weekly or more as we start the school year.
