It was great to meet and/or see so many families at conferences. I am very proud of how well students discussed their learning and goals.
Some parents asked for resources, so I've added a Language Arts Resource section and a Math section. Please feel free to use the links found on both for a challenge or support.

Financial Aid Nights
Students and parent/guardians in Bellingham Public Schools are invited to learn more about financial aid options for post-high school education at upcoming financial aid information events. There are two opportunities to attend: 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 in the Bellingham High School theater or 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 119 Texas Street (Cornwall Avenue and Texas).
Financial aid officers from Western Washington University will provide information as well as discuss how to apply for scholarships and how the Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) application works, including FAFSA deadlines, how to complete it and qualifications for the aid.

Confirmation of Conference Times went home last week! Please check to see what time your conference is scheduled. Your child MUST come to the conference (the conferences are student-led).
We are on an early release schedule on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday is a 5,6,7 schedule. Thursday and Friday are 1,2,3 (also known as 4...).
9 Week Progress Reports were mailed Thursday. Your student still has 9 weeks to improve their grades before report cards.
I look forward to seeing a lot of you over the next two weeks for conferences!

Progress reports will go home Tuesday. Please watch for your students progress reports. Keep the reports and sign/send back the cover sheet.
Book orders are due November 2nd. Our class earns free books if parents/students order online. All books are delivered to the classroom for students. Online Ordering Information

There are a lot of spots open in our morning learning lab. If students need a spot to work on late work/homework please let me know and I can sign them up. It runs from 8-8:45 Monday-Thursday. There are WWU students and a lead teacher available to help students.
9 week progress reports will be mailed home shortly. This is still a progress report, but represents us being halfway through the first semester.
It was amazing to see so many 6th graders honored during our first Shuksan Scholar Assembly. If your student received a certificate and shirt please congratulate them! All students will have a chance to earn an award at our next assembly (we have four total in the year). Students were recognized for attendance, grades, and PRIDE.

Signed Progress Report sheets (purple) were due back on Friday. Please check with your student to see their Progress Reports. Learning Lab is available Monday-Thursday from 8-8:45 am and after school on Monday-Thursday for support making up work/help with work. Students can also sign up for Friday school to get additional help after school on Fridays.

I think I have every computer-based way to communicate with families covered now! I will continue to update my Web site and Twitter feed, but my blog will be filled with weekly updates.
